I have a deep appreciation for heritage buildings and the quiet stories they carry. My work is rooted in a respect for traditional materials, craftsmanship, and the integrity of older spaces—recognising that these buildings are not simply to be redesigned, but carefully understood.

I believe interiors should feel connected to their setting, shaped by history rather than imposed upon it. Wherever possible, I advocate for the use of natural materials and traditional skills, ensuring that any changes sit comfortably within the fabric of the building. The aim is always to find a balance between sensitive, appropriate intervention and creating a home that feels deeply personal and effortless to live in.

My studio is based within the historic setting of Crownhill Fort, a place that reflects much of what I value in my work. The space itself is atmospheric and quietly immersive—somewhat removed from the pace of everyday life—and designed to allow ideas to unfold naturally. It houses a considered library of tile, paint, and wallpaper samples, offering a tactile and intuitive way to explore direction and detail.

The studio is also home to Second Century Antiques, the sourcing arm of Graded Interiors. Here, I curate a collection of antique and vintage pieces, selected for their character, patina, and ability to bring depth to a space. These pieces form an integral part of my approach, allowing interiors to feel layered, individual, and rooted in time.

 

Ultimately, my work is about advocating for heritage and period buildings and using this passion to create interiors that feel meaningful, elegant, and enduring—spaces that tell a story, foster a sense of connection, and continue to evolve with the people who live in them.
